After a successful twenty year career in challenging mainstream schools finishing as a senior pastoral deputy with a track record of sustained school improvement, I joined Birtenshaw in 2013. In addition to being Headteacher of our Special school I also have strategic and operational oversight of our college and care services.
I have been a teacher for eight years, six of these have been working with pupils with special needs.
I joined Birtenshaw in April of this year as teacher of the Owls class. I am really enjoying working at Birtenshaw and with the amazing team!
I started at Birtenshaw in 2014 as an NQT. I qualified in 2015 and teach Sparrows class. I originally trained as a primary school teacher but I jumped at the opportunity to work at Birtenshaw and have never looked back. My favourite thing about Birtenshaw School is working with the young people and seeing them achieve amazing things everyday.
I joined Birtenshaw as a Learning Support Assistant three years ago. I joined the School Direct Programme in September 2014 and qualified in July 2015 as an outstanding teacher. I have been Kites class teacher since September 2015 and really enjoy my new role!
