On Wednesday 12 June 2019 pupils from Birtenshaw School Bolton competed in the ninth annual Randstad Games. The games were held at the Eithad Campus in Manchester Sports City. Pupils seemed to be looking forward to the day as they went into the arena laughing and with big smiles.

Altogether 14 schools competed in the games. It was fantastic to see pupils from various schools cheering and motivating each other during the events which created a very positive atmosphere. Pupils from Birtenshaw School took part in every event including, running, jumping, javelin and hurdles with some brilliant individual performances.

The last event of the day was the relay race and Birtenshaw School ended on a high by coming first! This took brilliant team work, determination and concentration. Once all the events had finished the organisers announced the overall winners of the day. Birtenshaw School, Bolton was awarded the SEN Sports Day Sportsman Trophy for demonstrating exemplary attitude and sportsmanship.

We would like to thank everyone at Randstad for organising the event and we are already looking forward to competing again next year. It was a pleasure to be involved in the event and see the pupil’s success.
