Birtenshaw School, Bolton play at Lancashire Cricket Festival

Recently 16 pupils from Birtenshaw School, Bolton took part in the Lancashire Cricket Festival 2019 held at Middleton Cricket Club: an inter school competition for schools all over Lancashire held over two days. This was the first time pupils from Birtenshaw School had played in a competitive cricket match against other schools and everyone was looking forward to taking part.

Lancashire Cricket had arranged the event and they started each day by welcoming everyone to the event and introducing the rules of the game of cricket. Despite the wet and windy weather, pupils played competitively against pupils from the other schools, showing outstanding spirit and sportsmanship which continued into the afternoon. There was a break for lunch.  It was great to see pupils from various schools interacting with each other and making new friends.

Birtenshaw School won a game on each day, a fantastic achievement for pupils trying cricket for the first time and they all enjoyed collecting their certificates at the end of the day. Thank you to everyone involved at Lancashire Cricket for organising the event. We look forward to taking part next year.
