Employee of the Month – May – Shannen Fisher
Congratulations to Shannen Fisher who was awarded Birtenshaw Employee of the Month for May!
Shannen is a Learning Support Assistant in Birtenshaw School. As a relatively new member of staff, Shannen has worked hard to develop relationships with current staff members by asking questions and seeking guidance when needed.
Shannen was thrilled to be awarded Employee of the Month. Talking about her experience as a relatively new member of staff she said:
“It was a challenge at first but I asked for advice and other staff made me feel comfortable and gave me confidence.”
Shannen has also been recognised for her dedication in going above and beyond to support a young person and ensuring he is safe, happy and keeping busy with purposeful activities. As a result, this young person has made great progress since working with Shannen.
“I found out what he likes and dislikes and what he’s good at and I worked on that to find ways to occupy him. We have built a lovely working relationship and I really enjoy working with him. I feel he has come a long way in recent months, which isn’t all down to me, but I am proud to have played a part in that!”
Well done again Shannen and to all the nominees for May. It’s great to find out about the fantastic work carried out by our dedicated staff every day.
All winners of the employee of the month scheme will go into the draw for Employee of the Year to mark the charity’s diamond jubilee year in 2016.
