Full Steam Ahead at Birtenshaw College!
Students in Group Two, Birtenshaw College have been learning all about transport this term. Students have been learning in particular about steam engines, and they enjoyed this topic so much that they decided to find out more about steam operated engines and machinery.
A group from Birtenshaw College visited Bolton Steam Museum which is located on Chorley Old Road, Bolton. They had a fantastic time watching various demonstrations and were able to operate some of the engines. Two of the engines had been named: David and Elsie! Students enjoyed finding out how they worked and experiencing the different sounds, sights and smells produced by the machinery.
