Helping Birtenshaw to Bloom!

Young adults who attend Birtenshaw’s Enrichment Programme, based at Firwood House, have been building new raised beds in the garden in order to plant beautiful flowers that will bloom next year.
One young adult in particular has a natural talent for woodwork and thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors and using his woodwork skills to make a raised bed with support. As you can see, he was very pleased with the end result!

Students at Birtenshaw College (also based at Firwood House) have been working in the Polytunnel as well, tending to existing crops and preparing new ones throughout the Autumn/Winter season. Lettuce and carrots in particular are ideal for planting over the colder months.
Well done to everyone who took part!
