Down the Rabbit Hole with Birtenshaw School!
Cast your mind back to the depths of midwinter, in December 2016, and you may recall the exciting production of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ staged by Birtenshaw School! The production was a roaring success and pupils from the school were the stars of the show. Now, a few months on, we can take you behind the scenes for a look at the preparations and hard work that went into producing the magical Wonderland.
Pupils used their wonderful powers of imagination and made all of the props for the show. Everyone played there part working on different things including painting a woodland scene for the backdrop and creating a massive seven-layer cake which took centre stage for the Hatters Tea Party!
All of the amazing costumes were designed and made by the pupils. Ospreys Class made hats for the Hatter’s Tea Party – they enjoyed using their creativity to design unusual ideas, designed the hats and then created a plan for how to make them. Next they created their first versions and made changes to their designs if they wanted to. Everyone used different materials on their hats and made them bold and bright to reflect their individual personalities!
On the day of the performance itself pupils was very excited and nervous when the audience arrived to enjoy the show. The show was a resounding success and afterwards there was a real-life tea party for all the stars of the show, family and friends. It was a great day, and we are excited for the summer production already.
