Spotlight on the Birtenshaw Finalists for the GB Care Awards 2016 – Kerry Smith
We spoke to the second of the Birtenshaw GB Care Awards Finalists (you can read the first one here), Care Newcomer Award nominee Kerry Smith. She’s a fantastic recent addition to Birtenshaw and has been with us for 11 months. We asked her a few questions about the nomination.
Q: What do you most enjoy doing at work every day?
K: The relationships with the young people and supporting them. I enjoy getting out and about in the community, that’s lovely. And my team – we call ourselves the A team!
Q: What does this award nomination mean to you?
K: I feel like I’m being recognised for the work I do, which is lovely.
Q: What has been your proudest moment at work?
K: Being nominated for the GB Care Awards of course! It’s so nice to hear that your colleagues think well of you.
Q: And what advice would you give other people who want to do outstanding care work?
K: You have to be committed to the role and open minded – as well as a team player, that’s the most important bit!
We hope Kerry will be a team player with us for many more successful years!
We would like to thank Kerry for taking the time to talk to us and wish her the very best of luck for the finals on Friday.
The blog about our third finalist will be posted later in the week.
