Summer Days …. Drifting Away ….
It’s the final week of the Birtenshaw summer series and we’re exhausted! Going back to school will be a breeze this term for our intrepid adventurers – they’ve been out and about all day every day doing positive activities to build independence and self-reliance. Here’s a selection of highlights from this week starring some Birtenshaw children’s homes residents. Be sure to check back for next week’s blog featuring our top five summer achievements of 2016!
First up was some rootin’ scootin’ fun around the park in the sunshine. Our speedy rider was briefly immobilised by a wheel failure but our helpful friends at Green Machine bike shop in Horwich had him back on the road in no time. Thanks guys! Next was a leisurely ride on the swings, and then a well-earned picnic lunch relaxing on the park bench.
Later in the week we got out on the water with the Anderton Centre at Rivington. Our man in the boat might be looking a little bit Miami Vice but we promise it was all good clean fun! We’ll have a dedicated post on the Anderton Centre adventures coming soon, so here’s a sneak peek for now. It was fantastic fun to be out on the open water with nothing but the clear blue and rippling waves – but did we spot Nessie….?
