Louise and Emma, Connexions Advisors, have been delivering group work activities to support Birtenshaw College Learners in their Careers Education Programme. The focus has been on searching for a job, applying for a job and interview skills. This work culminated in learners attending mock interviews at The BASE in Bolton.
Anthony and Sisa started an external work placement at Ben’s Barbers and Shear Perfection Hairdressers respectively, meeting and greeting clients.
James and Michael continue their work placements at NHS Prescription Pricing. Michael has achieved his L2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering qualification, which now enables him to prepare food in the canteen.
Sam and Adil brave the British weather at the Anderton Centre developing their employability skills in ground maintenance.
Jake travels by train to Spinningfields, Manchester to undertake administrative tasks at Browne Jacobson (a large Legal firm).
James’s work with MSG Ltd, a maintenance company has resulted in the offer of paid employment. MSG Ltd and college staff are supporting him to develop and prepare him for the world of work.
Shona, Jessica, Joshua and Robert brace the hills of Holcombe Brook on a weekly basis, whilst on work placement at Margaret Hayes Riding Centre.
Matthew’s passion for making food will be developed further at his work placement at The Kitchen, in Bolton.
Humaira’s confidence and independence has grown whilst on work placement at Zac’s Youth Bars, where she undertakes administration tasks and cleaning independently.
